What are the engines available on the new Audi A3?

The new Audi A3 is going to be launched with three four-cylinder engines - petrols consist of 1.4-litre TFSI (paired to a 7-speed S Tronic gearbox) and the 1.8-litre TFSI (six-speed manual), and one diesel engine, which is the 2.0-litre TDI (six-speed manual) developing 122PS, 180PS and 143PS respectively.

Fuel economy has improved by an average of 12 per cent compared the previous generation model. All engines send drive to the front wheels; quattro permanent all-wheel drive and cylinder management technology will follow at a later stage in 2012.

What are its dimensions and weight?

The A3 is smaller than the Mercedes B-Class with a length of 4.24 meters. It is built using aluminium and steel. Weight reduction achieved compared to the current model is about 80 kg, the 1.4 petrol tips the scale at 1,175kg. It has a 365 liter boot volume, grows to 1,100 liters when the seats are folded.

Can you talk about the safety features?

Features such as Electronic Stability Program with electronic limited slip differential are standard while Audi drive select vehicle dynamics system and adaptive shock absorbers are optional.

Can you highlight some of the features for the driver?

Interiors are highlighted by the revised MMI system with MMI touch, slim and electrically retractable monitor. The sound system is a Bang & Olufsen unit and the driver aids like the adaptive cruise control and an improved park assist feature are also present. Upholstery options are available in different qualities of leather completed by a Alcantara leather variant.

What are the aesthetic treats?

Xenon headlamps and LED daytime running lights are optional fitments. Alloy wheel fitments are possible up till 18 inches in size.

What is its price?

Prices will start in the UK at approximately 14.9 lakh rupees.
