A deep-dive into the upcoming Mercedes E Class facelift
The current generation Mercedes E Class was launched back in 2009 and is in-line with the old design language. Mercedes is now planning to facelift the E Class to bring it in-line with the new design language seen on the A- and B-Class models.
Many test mules have been caught in the international automotive scene indicating major design changes to the front and rear fascia.
Here is a list of changes that one can expect on the Mercedes E Class facelift:
- The biggest change is the redesigned front fascia with the exclusion of the dual-pod headlamps. Remember, the dual-pod headlight look has been with the E Class since the W210 launched in the 90's. Speculations suggests that the new headlamps will be heavily influenced by the Concept A Class
- Keeping in-line with modern times, the new head lamps will have LED DRLs
- Modified fog lights and new airdam will freshen up the car’s face
- The front grill will be turned slightly more vertical than the last iteration
- The rear will feature different tail lamp graphics along with a re-sculptured bumper
- Changes will be made to the dashboard and steering wheel designs so that the E becomes part of the new family
- Upgrades to the communication, infotainment and safety systems are expected
- Powertrains will not be changed. Minor tweaks to improve the fuel efficiency and performance are expected
A possible debut at the Paris motor show this September is predicted by the international media. Do note, this is not the next generation or successor which will be launched in 2015 made from super lightweight materials.
Considering this is just a facelift, Mercedes could introduce the E-Class facelift in India in 2013.
