Rendering - Do you like the hatchback version of the 2013 Skoda Octavia?
The 2013 Skoda Octavia is all set to reach the European customers this month and we Indians will have to wait for a few more months to get our hands on the car.
In Europe, the car will be available in both sedan and station wagon avatar, both of which boasts of cavernous boot space. If you're a city dweller and if you can compromise on the boot space for a compact car, a hatchback version of Skoda Octavia would make sense.
However Skoda has no known plans to make an Octavia hatchback but a hatchback based on the European Rapid could be in the pipeline as reported by Autoevolution.com. If you are curious to know how an Octavia hatchback will look like, here is a rendering by Theophilus Chin.
For starters, the 2013 Skoda Octavia sits on the MQB platform and is closely related to the VW Golf MK7, a popular hatch in its own right. A steeply raked rear windshield meeting the condensed boot gives it a VisionD like silhouette which would make it stand out from the rest of the herd.
The hatchback construction will obviously will remove few cubic litres of the massive 590 litre boot, but could still emerge as one of the hatchbacks with the largest boot, ready to pounce on the Chevrolet Cruze hatchback.
But the question is, will Skoda build one?
