Aggressive pricing expected for Honda's new B-segment hatchback.

The PTI reports that Honda Cars India could defer the launch of the new 2014 Jazz, owing to production constraints and huge demand for existing models. The company had earlier stated that the launch of the Jazz will take place this fiscal year, and a report read that March 2015 would indeed see the hatchback in showrooms.

The Jazz would be powered by a 1.2L petrol and a 1.5L diesel in India.

However, Honda says that demand for its current models has far exceeded expectations and hence the launch of the new Jazz is "slightly adjusted". Mr. Hironori Kanayama, President and CEO, Honda Cars India, said that the company is yet to take a decision on the exact time of the launch.

Recently, Honda started a second shift at its second plant in Tapukara, Rajasthan, and thus increased production of the City. With this, the Tapukara plant is running at full capacity, the company said. The City's production was moved from Greater Noida in order to accommodate production of the Mobilio MPV.

The Jazz, when launched in India, will be available with a 1.2-liter petrol engine and a 1.5-liter diesel engine. Honda will price the Jazz competitively as it shares plenty of parts with the new City, which has a 90 percent level of localization.
