2013 Tokyo Motor Show Live - 2014 Honda Odyssey JDM

At the 2013 Tokyo Motor Show, Honda debuts the next-generation 2014 Odyssey people mover slated for a launch in the Japanese domestic market.

It is to be noted that Honda sells two different cars christened Odyssey – one for US, and another for the rest of the world. The Odyssey presented here at the show is for Japan, Europe and rest of the world.

Under the hood is the 2.4 liter four-cylinder power house from the existing model, though improved further for reduced emissions and improved fuel efficiency according to Honda. A Continuously Variable Transmission is featured as standard.

The car is compact yet appears larger and more spacious than the US Odyssey, thanks to a shorter hood and a taller roof line. The new Odyssey is built on a revised ultra-low-floor platform for optimum passenger utility says the company.

The new Odyssey includes an ‘ECON’ driving mode, blind-spot and auto-braking systems, an optional all-wheel drive system, two seating layouts, etc.

For markets such as India, Honda will not be introducing the Odyssey (at least in the near future) and will instead launch the Brio-based Mobilio LMPV. The Mobilio was unveiled in September this year at the Indonesian International Motor Show in Jakarta, Indonesia.
