LA Live - 2014 Hyundai Elantra Sport

The Hyundai Elantra facelift was expected to be seen at the LA Auto Show. However, Hyundai did one step better by showing us the 2014 Elantra Sport.

The 2014 Elantra Sport gets extensive design upgrades and a more powerful GDI engine. In total, almost 75 major sub-systems have been redesigned or are new (for 2014 Elantras in general).

Sport tuned steering and suspension calibrations sharpen the Elantra Sport's handling, as Hyundai have included stiffer springs and dampers as well as a larger front stabilizer bar.

Power comes from a 2.0-liter GDI four-cylinder engine that develops 173 bhp and 208 Nm of torque. A 6-speed automatic transmission is the only gearbox on offer.

Outside, the 2014 MY Elantras gets LED infused headlights and an altered grille. On the Elantra Sport, Hyundai have added a black chrome grille and a body-color rear spoiler. The model also gets a chrome trim and two-tone 17-inch alloy wheels.

The Sport also receives leather seats, alloy pedals and aluminium sill plates. Other highlights include a leather-wrapped steering wheel, six-speaker audio system and a 4.3-inch touchscreen display.
