IAB Rendering - Maruti Swift Dzire facelift
Indian Autos Blog's rendering wizard Shoeb Kalania has constructed the front three quarter look of the Maruti Dzire facelift.
The Swift-based sedan launched in early 2012, and sales have been better than the previous model that launched in 2008. Demand for the compact sedan could continue to remain strong in the coming years as almost 3 million hatchback customers from the last 2-3 years will look to upgrade in next few years.
The Swift Dzire is the market leader heavily contested sub-4m sedan segment that sees sales of about 30,000 units a month. Almost every major auto maker is looking to increase presence in this segment. The Tata Zest and the Ford Ka sedan are set to break cover this financial year, whereas compact sedans from Volkswagen and Skoda would follow a year later.
The flurry of competitors certainly calls for mid-cycle changes and feature add-ons on current models.
As you can see in the rendering, the Maruti Dzire facelift is provided a chrome slab across the grille area flanked on either side with smoked headlamps. The foglamp enclosure is bordered with a chrome element, while the chrome applique on the bootlid and the accompanying badges do not move. The rear bumper is recast, shedding the centrally placed reflector/stop light.
The only confirmed feature addition is push-button start. Mechanical changes are not expected, and the car will be the strapped with the same 1.2-liter petrol (paired to an optional 4-speed AT) and the 1.3-liter diesel engine.
Before the festive season rolls around, the Dzire facelift should be on the market with marginal or no price revision. An AMT variant can be explored if Maruti is able to straighten out supply bottlenecks.
