LA Live - 2014 Mercedes S65 AMG
The 2014 Mercedes-Benz S65 AMG receives a world premiere at two simultaneous locations - Tokyo and Los Angeles. In this story, our representatives at the 2013 LA Auto Show bring you images of the latest S Class variant.
The S65 AMG is the go-faster version of the go-faster version of an already fast car! While the S63 AMG which debuted at the Frankfurt Motor Show is powered by a 5.5-liter V8 engine, the S65 gets its power from an AMG tuned 6.0-liter Bi-Turbo V12.
This engine produces 630 hp and 1,000 Nm of torque, enough to accelerate the S65 from 0-100 km/h in 4.3 seconds and give it an electronically limited top-speed of 250 km/h.
Performing the transmission duty on the S65 is an AMG SPEEDSHIFT PLUS 7-speed gearbox. Average CO2 emissions and fuel efficiency stand at 279 g/km and 8.4 km/l respectively.
Feature wise, the S65 gets a carbon fiber engine cover, a lithium-ion battery (that saves 20 kg), an AMG Sports Suspension with MAGIC BODY CONTROL, AMG ceramic brakes and an AMG instrument cluster.
The S65 AMG will be available only as a long wheelbase model and sales will commence in March next year at a starting price in Germany of 232,050 Euros (INR 1.95 crores).
