The new Mini range is built on an all-new front-wheel drive platform.

BMW India has confirmed that it will launch the all-new 3- and 5-door versions of the 2014 Mini on November 19 in Mumbai. The 3-door Mini will replace the current 3-door Cooper model, while the 5-door will be a completely new addition to the lineup which also includes the Convertible and Countryman.

The 5-door is identical to the 3-door model design wise save for the rear doors.

Both cars are based on the UKL front-wheel drive architecture, and are significantly larger than previous iterations of the iconic small car (the 5-door Mini is a first for the brand). The 3-door version measures 3,821 mm long, 1,727 mm wide, and 1,414 mm tall, whereas the 5-door measures 3,982 mm long, 1,727 mm wide and 1,425 mm tall.

It is very likely that only the Cooper or Cooper S models will be sold in India, as the base Mini One, built for economy and not for style, wouldn't be able to justify the premium price. The Cooper variants of both cars are available with 1.5-liter three-cylinder petrol and diesel engines. The range-topping Cooper S variants are powered by 2.0-liter four-cylinder petrol and diesel engines. More details about the new Mini 3- and 5-door are available here.
