Skoda Fabia replacement coming in 2014 on the Volkswagen Modular Transverse Matrix platform

AutoBild.de has presented a few details and an illustration of the next generation Fabia hatchback expected to bow in 2014. The new Fabia will be based on the Volkswagen MQB or Modular Transverse Matrix Platform.

The MQB platform is the foundation for many upcoming VW Group volume models in India such as the next generation Rapid, Polo and Vento.

The report claims a three-cylinder TDI engine is likely to provide motive force (the 1.2 TDI passed over from the current model?) and a marginally longer wheelbase will provide better interior space. A report on the next generation Polo (the sister car of the Fabia) posted a few days back claimed that the wheelbase will be stretched without extending the length of the car.

The 2014 Skoda Fabia is expected to use a similar approach but offer much more diversity in model lineup with the continuation of the Roomster MPV and Scout station wagon variants.
