The SUV has been evolving continuously ever since it was launched and the 2014 model is no exception. However, the looks of the latest iteration might polarize opinions. The front fascia gets more aggressive with narrow headlights and front grill, a gaping lower air dam and a vertical air intake below the headlamps.
A prominent silver scuff plate covers the chin of the high riding SUV. The profile is similar to the outgoing model while the rear gets new silver accented bumper and clear lens lamps. The rear profile can be traced back to its elder siblings Prado and Land Cruiser.
Just like the model it replaces, the SUV is available in three trim levels - SR5, Limited and Trail. The 4Runner can be specified in 4x2 or 4x4 configurations.
Power comes from a 4-litre V6 petrol engine paired to a 5-speed ECT-I automatic transmission. The outputs stand at 270 bhp peak power and 375 Nm peak torque. The car delivers a highway mileage of 22mpg (around 9.3 kmpl).
On the inside, the car gets updated dashboard and trims. Inclusions such as a revised multi-info display, updated Optritron gauges are offered along with goodies like an Entune infotainment system. A 7" touchscreen is available as an option.
The SR5 and Limited variants come with three rows of seats. The latter offers a leather trimmed interior. The middle row is a 40:20:40 split seat and boasts of a one touch walk-in function for easy ingress into the third row.
