Geneva Live - 2014 VW Polo Facelift
The 2014 VW Polo facelift had its public premiere today at the 2014 Geneva Motor Show. Readers have seen us posting spyshots of the Polo facelift from Pune in the last few weeks, as it prepared to launch towards the middle of the year in India.
The refreshed Polo gets an updated front fascia with new mirror housings for the headlights and a redesigned bumper inspired by the Golf Sportsvan. VW says that LED headlights, an optional first-in-segment feature, will be available on the new Polo.
Feature wise, all variants will be equipped as standard with an Automatic Post-Collision Braking System which automatically brakes the vehicle after a collision. An optional Sport Select suspension system will be offered which features electronically controlled dampers to switch between two suspension settings. VW says that the steering system has also been upgraded to a new electro-mechanical unit.
Inside, the refreshed Polo gets a new instrument cluster, a new steering wheel, redesigned centre console with new AC controls and new seat fabrics.
The diesel variants of the Polo are now powered by a new three-cylinder 1.4-liter motor which is available in two power states of 75 PS and 90 PS. The 1.2-liter three-cylinder and 1.6-liter four-cylinder diesel engines are discontinued, says VW.
The petrol range includes two 1.0-liter MPI engines, two 1.2-liter TSI engines and a 1.4-liter TSI engine with cylinder deactivation technology.
Bookings for the 2014 Polo open in the UK in April this year, with deliveries set to commence in late July.
