Yamaha unveiled the FZ-S Concept at the Auto Expo 2014. Essentially, the concept previews a much needed update for the FZ, and a launch is slated to happen this year.

Now, Overdrive reader, Madhav Abeer spotted the updated FZ testing near the Greater Noida Expressway. The prototype seen here sports the same taillight design as the Auto Expo show bike. It looks much sharper than that of the current FZ. Thanks to the change of taillights, the design of the registration plate enclosure and mudguard also changes.

At the front, just like the concept, the bike spotted here features an air inlet positioned below the fuel tank. These cosmetic changes, coupled with new colors (like the concept bike's dual-tone shade) should make the FZ appear fresh even when viewed alongside the competition. The reader who snapped these images says that a redesigned centre console (inspired from the Trigger) was visible.

Mechanically, the FZ could continue using the current 153 cc single-cylinder engine which produces 14 PS and 13.6 Nm of torque. Overdrive reports that Yamaha could also explore the possibility of using a re-bored 170 cc engine which would produce about 17 PS of power.
