Yamaha has unveiled a major upgrade to the YZF-R125 with the launch of the 2014 R125 at the recently concluded MCN Excel show in London. The bike is not planned for India, at least at present.

The front styling is heavily inspired by the Yamaha R6.

The new Yamaha R125 is powered by a liquid-cooled 124.7 cc engine that produces 15 hp at 9,000 rpm and peak torque of 12.4 Nm at 8,000 rpm. The bike is built on a steel deltabox frame and gets reworked inverted front fork with new ultra-rigid triple clamps for the front suspension and redesigned rods for the linked monoshock with preloaded spring adjustment at the rear.

Yamaha also claims to have increased the fuel efficiency of the R125 by 11 percent, thanks to a redesigned fuel injection system.

The 2014 Yamaha YZF-R125 gets unique air intakes between the split headlamps.

The R125 measures 1,955 mm in length, 680 mm in width, 1,065 mm in height and has a wheelbase of 1,355 mm. With a seat height of 825 mm, the bike also gets a 155 mm ground clearance. When topped up with fuel in its 11.5 liter petrol tank and fluid in its 1.5-liter oil tank, the bike would weigh 140 kg.

A fully digital multifunction LCD screen makes for the dashboard.

Other upgrades on the bike include: radial front caliper and floating disc, carbon finish on front fender, redesigned muffler tip, rear brake pedal and gear level made of forged aluminium, aluminium diecast pillion footrest, shorter support for rear number plate and a redesigned taillight.

The new 2014 Yamaha YZF-R125 is available in Matte Grey, Anodized Red or Race Blu colors.
