IAB Report - India-bound 2015 Audi TT enters production in Hungary
More than half a million TTs made in Hungary since 1998.
Audi started series production of the third generation TT sportscar at its plant in Gyor, Hungary. The same plant is also responsible for making the A3 Sedan, which launches in India on August 7.
The Hungarian plant has built all generations of the TT till date. The first generation model entered production in 1998, followed by the second generation in 2006. In November last year, the plant rolled out the 500,000th unit of the popular sports-coupe.
Currently, the TT is offered with two engine options, a petrol and a diesel. The 2.0-liter four-cylinder petrol makes 230 PS (226.7 bhp) in the standard TT and 310 PS (305.6 bhp) in the sportier TT-S. The diesel uses a 2.0-liter TDI engine to produce 184 PS (181.4 bhp) and 380 Nm of torque. All engines can be had with a 6-speed manual or a DSG automatic transmission.
The TT is imported into India as a CBU, and this should continue with the next generation model as well. An Audi India official told Indian Autos Blog that the company will launch the new TT next year.
