2015 BMW 3 Series (facelift) vs older model - Old vs New
New engines for 3 Series in Europe.
BMW took the wraps off the 2015 3 Series (facelift) last week, celebrating 40 years of the nameplate in the process. As is the case with BMW, the facelift brings minor cosmetic changes, but major engine changes to the 3 Series.
Up front, designers have given the 2015 3 Series new aprons with revised air intakes to "accentuate the feeling of width". Full LED headlights can now be optionally fitted on the sedan and estate, while Bi-Xenon lights are expected to be standard fitment.
To quote BMW, the rear gets a new "Line-specific trim element", a sculpted rear bumper and standard LED taillights. This completes the exterior changes seen on the 3 Series LCI (Life Cycle Impulse).
Inside, the facelifted 3 Series gets chrome highlights for the center console, AC vents and controls, while the cupholders on the center console get a new sliding cover.
From the Indian market perspective, the BMW 320d will continue to be offered by the Munich-based company. This 2.0-liter four-cylinder diesel engine gets a revised turbocharger for a 'sharper' response, while the 8-speed transmission has been tweaked for better efficiency and lower CO2 emissions.
Further, the suspension has been stiffened up, and the steering is made even more 'precise', BMW says in its press release.
The 3 Series facelift will launch in India this year, BMW India's president, Mr. Philipp von Sahr confirmed to IndianAutosBlog.
