IAB Report - 2015 BMW X3 facelift announced with updated 2.0L diesel engine
While we were bringing you stories from the 2014 Auto Expo, BMW announced a refresh for their X3 SUV which is assembled in India at the BMW Chennai plant.
The X3 is now updated with similar design elements that were seen on the new 2014 X5. The headlamps are enlarged and LED headlights are now optional. The trademark kidney grille is revised for a more 'eye-catching' appeal, while the front and rear bumpers are all new and extend a sporty appearance.
Other exterior changes include wing mirror integrated turn indicators, new body colors and alloy wheel designs. Inside, the 2015 X3 gets its center console in a high-gloss finish, new cupholders and upholstery designs, and automatic opening of the tailgate.
BMW says the refreshed X3 world premieres their 2.0-liter diesel engine in the 190 hp spec. This four-cylinder diesel engine is popular in India as its used on the 1-, 3-, 5-Series, X1 and X3 models. While this engine produces 184 hp on all these cars, on the new X3, power output is increased to 190 hp. This increase of 6 hp reduces fuel consumption by 7.1 percent, claims BMW.
In India, the X3 is available with a four- and six-cylinder diesel engine. We expect the refreshed X3 to be launched in the country later this year.
