LA Live - 2015 Chevrolet Tahoe

GM announced the 2015 Chevrolet Tahoe and the 2015 Suburban in early September this year, though its at the 2013 LA Auto Show where the public gets to see them in the flesh.

The body-on-frame SUV now uses a stronger frame and a wider rear track. As a result, the Tahoe retains its full-size SUV proportions, at 5,181 mm in length, 2,044 mm in width and 1,889 mm in height.

A new four-wheel-disc brake system with what GM calls 'Duralife' brake rotors are also included and the company claims that these brakes will have double the service life. Revisions to the brake pedal to improve the feel and instill driver confidence have also been carried out. On the top-end LTZ model, the Tahoe will feature the magnetic ride control system as well.

Inside, fold-flat second- and third-row seats with an optional power-folding feature are offered. Second-row legroom has increased by approximately 2 inches.

Like the new Suburban, the 2015 Tahoe gets its power from the same EcoTec3 5.3-liter V8 engine, outputting 355 hp and 519 Nm of torque. A 6-speed automatic transmission transmits the power, and both 2WD and 4WD variants are available.

And like the Suburban, the new Tahoe will be built at GM’s Arlington, Texas plant, with the first set of vehicles scheduled to arrive in dealerships in the first quarter of 2014.
