IAB Report - 2015 Ducati Diavel unveiled in Geneva

Ducati has unveiled the 2015 Ducati Diavel at the VW Group night, on the eve of the Geneva Motor Show.

The new Diavel is available in both a standard and a carbon version. The engine on both the variants is the latest dual-spark version of the company’s Testastretta 11° engine, most recently equipped on the new Monster 1200.

For the Diavel, the liquid cooled Testastretta engine produces two outputs for the Diavel Standard and the Diavel Carbon. For the Ducati Diavel Carbon, the 1198.4 cc engine makes 162 hp at 9,250 rpm and peak torque of 130.5 Nm at 8,000 rpm, mated to a 6-speed gearbox.

The tubular steel Trellis frame gets Marzocchi fully adjustable 50 mm usd fork with DLC-treatment at the front and fully adjustable rear shock with progressive linkage, remote spring preload adjustment, single-sided aluminium swingarm.

Stopping power is courtesy of twin 320 mm disc brakes, courtesy Brembo, 4-piston callipers with ABS as standard equipment at the front and 265mm disc, 2-piston floating calliper ABS as standard equipment at the rear. The dual-seat bike weighs 210 kg when dry and gets a 17 liter fuel tank.

Everything remains the same on the Ducati Diavel Standard edition except for a few cosmetic changes. While the Standard gets lightweight alloy, 14-spoke with machined finish 17-inch wheels at the front and the back, the Carbon gets Marchesini forged and machined 9-spoke 17-inch wheels at the front and back.

Prices are $17,995 (Rs 11.17 lakh) for the Diavel and $20,995 (Rs 13.03 lakh) for the Carbon version in the US market. The vehicle hits showrooms in May.
