2015 Ford Ranger revealed - IAB Report [Update]

Comes in two diesel and one petrol options.

The Ford Ranger facelift has been revealed today. To recap the external changes which is already known, the pickup comes with a new chrome grille, bonnet, bumpers and projector headlamps, while the interior gets a a brand new dashboard with a new dual-TFT instrument cluster and steering wheel.

Changes to the front include a new bonnet with more lines, larger grille, projector headlamps and new bumper.

The 3.2-liter five-cylinder Duratorq TDCi diesel engine that features a revised exhaust gas recirculation system. The engine is claimed to be 18 percent more efficient, and makes 200 hp and 470 Nm of torque, transferred through a six-speed manual or automatic gearbox.

The lower-spec 2.2-liter four-cylinder Duratorq TDCi develops 160 hp and 385 Nm while an efficiency-focused version with 130 hp with a 22 percent boost in fuel efficiency will be offered in select countries.

A new dashboard featuring an 8-inch touchscreen that operates the SYNC II infotainment is the biggest interior change.

In petrol-driven markets, the Ranger facelift will carry a 2.5-liter Duratec gasoline engine that produces 166 hp and 225 Nm.

4WD variants come with an electronically-controlled transfer case and low-range 4WD gearing, giving the car a towing capability of 3.5 tonnes. Ford claims that revision to the suspension and steering have resulted in more comfort and precision.

Engines on the Ranger are up to 22% more fuel efficient than before. The pickup has a wading depth of 800 mm, and approach and departure angles of 28 and 25 degrees.

Other features that Ford is putting into the new Ranger are the SYNC 2 infotainment with an 8-inch touchscreen display, Lane Keeping Alert, Adaptive Cruise Control, Forward Alert, Front and Rear Park Assist, Tire Pressure Monitoring System, Electronic Stability Program, Driver Impairment Monitor, Hill Launch Assist, Hill Descent Control, Adaptive Load Control and Emergency Brake Assistance.

The refreshed Ranger will start tricking into some 180 markets from the third quarter of the year, and will be manufactured in Thailand, South Africa and Argentina. You can get more info in the press release below the gallery.
