More powerful 1.4-liter petrol engine and an automatic transmission at least won't be available at the launch.

The Hyundai Elite i20 launches in India on August 11. Ahead of its launch, the car has been spotted at various locations revealing its exterior and interior design. Further, a source informs Indian Autos Blog of the following.

Based on the Fluidic Design v2.0, the new i20 launches in India on August 11.

The new i20 will be offered only with a 1.2-liter petrol engine and a 1.4-liter diesel engine, with no option of an automatic transmission. The variant lineup of the car will be as follows: Magna, Sportz, Sportz (O) and Asta. There won't be a base Era trim says our source.

While the variant-wise features have been discussed in depth in previous stories, here are the latest developments. The top-end Asta will not be offered with 6 airbags (the maximum number of airbags on the new i20 will be 2, for the driver and co-passenger), or a sunroof or a rear disc brake (the Asta (O) of the current i20 currently offers these features).

Base variants of the Elite i20 will come with 14-inch wheels, while the top-end will get 16-inch alloys. However, the spare wheel will be a standard steel rim. In terms of build quality, our source informs us that the new i20 has improved by two notches, and the NVH (Noise, Vibration and Harshness) levels of the car are also comparatively better than the current model.

The variant buildup of the new i20 starts from the Magna trim and extends to the Asta trim, which will get this automatic AC unit.

The new multi-information display of the car will have an in-built service indicator, similar to that seen on the Punto. Another new feature which will be introduced in the i20 is a steering position indicator. Say for example you've parked the car with the wheels not in the center position. The system will then indicate that the wheels are not centered and issue an alert. This could prevent small bumps and scratches when starting the vehicle again.

Also coming as an improvement will be the Bluetooth system which is a lot more functional than the outgoing model, according to our source. The music system on the top-end variant will have 1GB of in-built storage, and will play through four speakers.

On the outside, our source confirms that the ground clearance of the car has gone up by 4 mm and the wheelbase has indeed increased. The black C-Pillars seen here are not wraps, but are in fact black panels.
