INTERMOT 2014 Live - 2015 Kawasaki Versys 1000
The fairing undergoes a design overhaul.
The 2015 Kawasaki Versys 1000 has been unveiled at the INTERMOT 2014 in Cologne, Germany, today.
The litre-class tourer receives a comprehensively redesigned front fairing which now sports a horizontally-stacked dual-headlamp. The new setup is claimed to improve the aerodynamics of the motorcycle and wind protection for the rider while enhancing the downforce. The windscreen now features a wider range of adjustment.
Kawasaki says the Versys (Versatile System) 1000 has not only been redesigned but also reengineered to include an improved long-travel suspension system and 17-inch alloy wheels. The aluminium twin-tube chassis has been reinforced to support extra luggage options and a new clean-mount one-key pannier system. The 2015 model is also available with an extended range of accessories.
The 1,043 cc in-line four-cylinder liquid-cooled engine delivers adequate power and torque outputs of 120 PS and 102 Nm respectively. The 6-speed transmission is paired to the motor by means of an assist and slipper clutch which limits the back torque.
Standard equipment includes ABS, 3-mode KTRC (traction control) and Power mode selection. The kerb weight and fuel tank capacity stand at 250 kg and 21 litre respectively. The bike measures 2,240 mm long, 895 mm wide, 1,400 mm tall and has a wheelbase of 1,520 mm.
The updated Versys 1000 starts at 12,190 euros (around INR 9.49 lakhs) in Germany.
