2015 Mahindra XUV500 (facelift) launching today, 5 things we know about it - IAB Report
Mahindra will launch the 2015 XUV500 (XUV500 facelift) today, the first major cosmetic update for its flagship SUV under its own brand. Here are the top 5 things we know about the XUV500 facelift:
1. Redesigned front fascia:
Designers have given the XUV500 facelift a revised front fascia with a new bumper, chrome-enclosures for the foglights, a chrome trim for the grille and new headlight enclosures with 'S-shape' LED daytime running lights. These cosmetic changes are expected to push the SUV further upmarket, and keep it in the minds of customers for at least the next couple of years.
2. New top-end W10 variant planned:
Not only will the design changes push the 2015 XUV500 upmarket, but Mahindra will reportedly introduce a new top-end W10 trim with a DVD-compatible 7-inch infotainment system, reverse camera with a zoom function and an engine starter button.
3. Gets a new 'voice-messaging system':
The XUV500 facelift will get a feature called 'voice-messaging system'. Essentially, the system will use voice prompts to tell the driver about a door being open, handbrake being engaged or even a seat belt alert. A voice-based alert system was seen in the past on an earlier edition of the Scorpio as well.
4. No major changes to the powertrain:
The XUV500 facelift is expected to continue with the 2.2-liter four-cylinder diesel engine without drastic changes. This unit is good for 140 bhp and 330 Nm of torque, and is paired to a 6-speed manual transmission. Similar to its predecessor, the SUV will come with 2WD and 4WD options.
5. New colors expected:
A new 'Purple' shade (seen in spyshots) and an 'Orange' tone (seen in an image above) will complement the existing color choices on the SUV.
Expected Price: INR 11-16 lakhs, ex-showroom
Launch Date: May 25, 2015
