The new C Class is larger than the current model, yet lighter.
Mercedes-Benz India will launch the new generation 2015 Mercedes C Class on November 25. The Indian launch follows nearly a year after the car was revealed, and about 11 months after its public debut at the North American International Auto Show.
Based on an all-new MRA (Mercedes rear wheel drive architecture) platform, the new C Class's looks are inspired by the flagship S Class. Compared to the outgoing model, the new C Class is nearly 100 kg lighter thanks to a 39 percent use of aluminium in its construction.
The sedan measures 4,686 mm in length, 1,810 mm in width, 1,442 mm in height and 2,840 mm in wheelbase. Compared to the older model, the new C is 95 mm longer, 40 mm wider, 5 mm shorter and 80 mm roomier in wheelbase.
For India, the diesel variant of the new C Class will continue to be powered by the 2.2-liter four-cylinder diesel engine, which on the European model makes 170 hp and 400 Nm of torque.
The petrol model could use the 2.0-liter engine which makes 184 hp and 300 Nm of torque. Irrespective of the engine, a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission will be offered on the car.
