2015 Mercedes C220 CDI to launch on February 11 in India - IAB Report

Initially will be imported via the CBU route, later followed by local assembly

Mercedes-Benz India is all set to launch the diesel version of the 2015 C-Class sedan on February 11, 2015.

Mercedes-Benz had already launched the petrol-powered C-Class in India, which are currently sold as CBUs.

In November 2014, Mercedes-Benz launched the petrol-powered C-Class in India, which is currently sold as a CBU in the country. With the diesel C220 CDI variant, Mercedes will be looking to attract more customers towards the new C-Class, which tries to package even more luxury and design than its predecessor.

As reported earlier, the new C Class diesel will be imported to the country via the CBU route, with local assembly set to commence at a later date. International demand for the new C Class has been better-than-expected, and hence the local arm has to resort to the CBU route before it can start assembling the car at its Chakan plant.

Power for the C220 CDI will be sourced from a 2.2-liter diesel engine producing 170 bhp and 400 Nm.
