2015 Perodua Myvi (facelift) launched - Malaysia

Priced at RM42,000 - RM59,000 (INR 7.2 Lakhs - INR 10.2 Lakhs).

Malaysian carmaker Perodua has unveiled Perodua Mvyi facelift in the domestic market, with a host of new features and renamed variants in tow.

The new Myvi will come in four variants: a 1.3 Standard "G", followed by the 1.3 Premium X – which replace the previous gen Myvi 1.3 XT and 1.3 SE respectively. For the 1.5-liter models, the SE variant remains while the 1.5 Advance replaces the Extreme variant.

The design of the 2015 Perodua Myvi is a step up from the previous model, sporting revised front and rear fascias, that is both modern and characteristic of a Perodua. While the basic variants feature a conventional elements, the more-powerful 1.5-liter variants are equipped with an aggressive body kit as well as 14 inch 5-spoke rims that aim to appeal the youth.

Further up the range, the car comes with projector headlamps with LED guide lights, clear lens tailights, parking sensors, and a rear spoiler.

Higher variants get projector lamps and aggressive body kit.

Inside, noticeable changes include a display with service info in the instrument cluster, chrome highlights for the air-conditioning system's dials, a cutout for the passenger airbag instead of being flush against the dash (as seen in the previous model), and hazard light button being shifted to the right from the left.

In the top-end Advance trim, the cabin features semi-bucket seats upholstered in leather with red highlights, instead of fabric in lower variants. The steering wheel and gear knob are also wrapped in leather with red contrast stitching, while the white-faced dials further adds to the car's dynamic character.

The cabin features a host of changes with leather upholstery and red contrast stitching on the higher variants.

Under the hood, it will retain the engine lineup from the previous model: a K3-VE 1.3-liter petrol motor capable of producing 89 hp and 117 Nm, and a 1.5-litre four-cylinder engine with 102 hp and 136 Nm. Both engines are coupled to either a 5-speed manual transmission or a new four-speed E-AT automatic.

Perodua claims that the fuel consumption on the 1.3 litre models is 18.1 km/l with the manual and 16.7 km/l with the auto, while the 1.5 litre models stands at 16.4 km/l and 15.4 km/l for the manual and automatic respectively.

Under the hood, it will retain the engine lineup from the previous model: a K3-VE 1.3-liter petrol motor and a 1.5-litre four-cylinder engine.

The company is also proud of the fact that the latest Myvi has scored four stars at the ASEAN NCAP rating, improving upon the previous model's three-star rating.

On-road prices (with insurance) for the 2015 Perodua Myvi start at RM41,500 (INR 7.18 Lakhs) for the manual 1.3 G variant while the automatic-equipped model starts at RM44,500 (INR 7.7 Lakhs). The 1.3 Premium X is only available with the automatic gearbox, and starts at RM47,500 (INR 8.22 Lakhs).

The Myvi has secured a 4/5 star crash test rating in the ASEAN NCAP.

Coming to the cars powered by the more-potent 1.5-liter engine, the SE variant starts at RM50,500 (INR 8.74 Lakhs) for the manual and RM53,500 (INR 9.26 Lakh) for the automatic transmission model, while the range-topping 1.5 Advance begins at RM58,500 (10.12 Lakhs). Bookings for the new Myvi are now open.
