IAB Report - 2015 Skoda Fabia's headlamp featuring LED DRL teased
The next gen Skoda Fabia is 65 kg lighter and will be showcased at the Paris Motor Show.
The 2015 Skoda Fabia has been teased ahead of its imminent online debut. The next generation of the global premium hatchback is expected to enter production at the Czech carmaker's main plant in Mlada Boleslav later this month.
The teaser image which was uploaded on the brand's official Facebook page shows the headlamp unit of the car. The unit belongs to the top-end variant and gets a projector element, a halogen element, clear lens turn indicator and LED daytime running lights. The upward sweeping kink of the headlamp where it meets the new grille comes from the Vision C Concept.
The headlamp and grille design is consistent with our in-house designer Shoeb Kalania's rendering based on the official sketch. While the front fascia sets a revised norm for the family identity, the rest of the car stays true to the brand's typical design traits with its taut and clean lines.
The interior, Skoda says, is completely new and offers several individualization options. The car is wider by 9 cm and lower by 3 cm and is 65 kg lighter.
Based on a re-engineered version of the existing car's platform, the new Skoda Fabia's powertrain options are claimed to offer up to 17% more fuel efficiency. The petrol lineup includes a 1.0-litre three-cylinder MPI and a 1.2-litre four-cylinder TSI with the power outputs ranging from 60 PS (59.1 bhp) to 110 PS (108.4 bhp).
The 1.6-litre diesel motor has been ditched in favor of a three-cylinder 1.4-litre unit that is available in two states of tune - 74 PS (72.9 bhp) and 103 PS (101.5 bhp). A low emission GreenLine variant would be introduced next year.
The premium hatchback would go on sale in Europe this year but Skoda India is focusing on the Rapid and segments above. The Fabia is unlikely to comeback to India in the immediate future.
