Based on the sleek Volvo Concept XC Coupe, Shoeb has illustrated the next generation Volvo XC90 that will touch down later this year in global markets (and enter India next year).

Inspired completely by the Concept XC Coupe, the new XC90 features a very low-slung stance, but would be a three-row seven seater with fuller looks. It is based on Volvo’s new Scalable Product Architecture (SPA), and is the first product of this platform.

The 2016 Volvo XC90 is based on the SPA and could be the safest SUV in the world.

Design elements that are probably getting transferred to the showroom model include the floating grille, T-shaped LED headlights and the signature taillights. 21-inch alloy wheels and sleekly-integrated side rub rails could also feature on it.

Volvo have not issued images of the car's interior, but we're expecting an iPad-like central touchscreen module that runs the Android-based Sensus Connected Touch infotainment system.

The 2015 XC90 could be the safest SUV in the world with systems that brake automatically, steer you away from obstacles, detect pedestrians in the dark and follow the car ahead of you autonomously.

The drivetrain would be a big step forward for Volvo as the XC90 use a four-cylinder engine displacing two-liters across the whole lineup. Available as either a diesel or a petrol, the 'VEA' engine would pair to a turbocharger, supercharger or a hybrid system to produce over 400 hp on the top-spec variant.
