2015 VW Sharan vs VW Sharan - Old vs New
Scheduled to make a debut at the 2015 Geneva Motor Show, the 2015 VW Sharan (facelift) is a small update on the outside, but benefits from a more feature rich interior and new engines.
On the outside, changes are limited to the presence of LED taillamps, new 'Jakarta' alloy wheels, and the inclusion of two new paints - Hudson Bay Blue Metallic and Crimson Red Metallic.
The real changes are on the inside with a flat-bottom steering wheel, new interior trims, a colour MID (Multi Information Display) and a new infotainment system. Safety systems have also been updated with multi-collision braking standard across the range, while options include Front Assist, Emergency City Braking, Lane Assist, Adaptive Cruise Control, Park Assist, and Blind Spot Monitor.
The said system will be available in two screen sizes: 5-inches and 6.5-inches, and the latter will can also be specified with navigation features. It's compatible with both Android Auto and Apple Car Play. With the App Connect ability, it enables users to stream contents from their smartphone screen onto the display.
Mechanically, while the platform remains the same, the engines are tuned for better performance. There are five engines to choose from, with max power ranging between 115 PS on the base diesel and going all the way up to 220 PS on the top-spec petrol. Except the base diesel, the engines are available with a 6-speed DSG transmission, but 4Motion all-wheel drive is exclusively available on the mid-spec 150 PS diesel.
