Festival season launch on the cards.

The VW Vento facelift has been spotted testing in Pune by MotorOctane.

This is the Vento's first serious visual intervention since its launch in 2010.

Volkswagen India is also engineering a sub-4m sedan on the Polo platform, but the model spied appears to have a normal boot leading us to surmise that it is a restyled Vento. The sub-4m sedan cannot have an extended rear like in the spyshot as the VW Polo's 3.97 m long body would only let a Verito Vibe-like flat trunk be fused to the rear, if the car has to qualify for excise benefits.

The report states that the mule has a revised taillamp, headlamp and grille and a similar dashboard like the Polo. Previous spyshots of the Indian Vento mule revealed the car having a new rear bumper, taillamp and wheel pattern, but the extent of the camouflage on the new spyshots hint that major changes are in store, including changes to the sheet metal.

The Russian-spec Vento facelift that was leaked last month had a three-slat grille, a new foglight enclosure, new bonnet with dual creases and a new front bumper. We expect some of these changes on the Indian Vento refresh as well, along with aesthetic interior changes.

As the powertrains were updated only last year, the same 1.5L diesel, 1.6L petrol and 1.2L petrol (turbo+AT) would feature on the facelift.

Given that VW India updated the powertrain of the Polo and Vento last year, no changes are expected in this section. The 1.5-liter diesel engine (available with a five-speed manual or seven-speed automatic gearbox) makes 105 PS (103.5 bhp) at 4,400 rpm and 250 Nm at 1,500-2,500 rpm.

The 1.6-liter petrol (available with a five-speed manual gearbox) produces 105 PS at 5,250 rpm and 153 Nm at 3,800 rpm while the 1.2-liter TSI engine (available with a seven-speed automatic gearbox) is good for 105 PS at 5,000 rpm and 175 Nm at 1,500-4,100 rpm.
