Inspired by Yamaha's MotoGP machine.

India is waking up to imported products with manufacturers understanding the importance of launching products when they are hot in the market (even sometimes at a premium). The 2015 Yamaha YZF-R1 that was recently launched at the 2014 EICMA show in Milan, is reported to make its entry into the Indian market within the first half of 2015.

The new R1 is technologically much more advanced than the outgoing model.

The bike would be launched in India by March followed by advance bookings, while deliveries would follow in another 30-45 days.

The new R1 is expected to be priced INR 2-3 lakhs higher than the outgoing model, which is currently priced at INR 15.6 lakh (ex-showroom) due to the major upgrades which have been installed to the new motorcycle

The 2015 R1 is a completely new design based on Yamaha's Moto GP machine - YZR M1. The new bike boasts better aerodynamics than the previous model thanks to its Moto GP inspired body shape. There are things quite odd about its looks, the headlights are twin-projector units mounted low under the fairing. The previous generation's under seat exhausts have now been replaced by a single side-slung unit.

The new litre-class superbike puts out 200 bhp.

Underneath the new look, the R1 employs a 998 cc inline-four cylinder mill that develops 200 bhp and a peak torque of 112.4 Nm. The new version also packs some handsome amount of features such as Inertial Measurement Unit (lean angle sensors), traction control, launch control, wheelie control and a multi-mode ABS.
