2016 Audi S8 Plus - 2015 Frankfurt Motor Show Live
The new S8 Plus will be seen in showrooms by the end of November.
Audi has showcased the 2016 Audi S8 Plus at the 2015 Frankfurt Motor Show. This is currently Audi’s fastest production sedan model.
The S8 Plus has a body made almost entirely of aluminum. Its design is based on the Audi Space Frame (ASF) weighing just 231 kg that Audi claims is the lightest among the competition.
The S8 looks similar to the A8, carrying minor changes. The majority of the body changes are limited to the introduction of dark accents to the otherwise body-coloured elements. There are also the S8 logos at the front and rear of the car and the V8 T badges on the front fenders.
The matt-effect Floret Silver colour is exclusively available for the S8 Plus. The fascia gets Matrix LED headlights with dynamic turn signals. The singleframe grille and double bars are in gloss black, while the honeycomb side air inlets and radiator screen are in matt black. The rear features darkened tail lights and a gloss black diffuser insert with an additional carbon surround.
The interiors have a full-black theme with contrasting stitching in Arras red. The sport seats also get Arras red piping with the headlining and rear parcel shelf finished in black Alcantara. For the dashboard, the upper inlay gets contrast red stitching with the lower inlay designed in brushed aluminium. A piano black finish is used for the center console and gear selector. The instrument cluster gets gray dials with white pointers and an S8 logo on the tachometer, as well as the three-spoke leather steering wheel.
Under the hood is a 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 producing 605 PS (597 hp) – 85 PS (83 hp) more than in the standard version, and a maximum torque output of 700 Nm that can jump to 750 Nm in overboost mode. The engine is coupled to an 8-speed tiptronic gearbox that propels the sedan from naught to 100 km/h in just 3.8 seconds. Top speed is restricted to 250 km/h but can be optionally increased to 305 km/h.
Standard equipment in the S8 Plus include Audi pre sense plus, four-zone deluxe automatic air conditioning system, Bose surround sound system and MMI navigation plus with MMI touch.
