Codenamed 'G11', the sixth generation BMW 7 Series has been spotted as a fully camouflaged prototype at a cargo area by BimmerToday reader Seana Joker.

The new 7 Series is expected on the market in late 2015 or early 2016 and would be the first existing BMW model, confirmed by the company, to benefit to a considerable extent from the usage carbon fiber.

A mix of carbon fiber and aluminium in its construction could make the 7 Series the lightest car in its category. According to one report, the new 7 Series would weigh about the same as the current 5 Series, leading to even better efficiency and driving dynamics.

The variant spotted here is the long wheelbase version. BimmerToday says new or improved technologies expected on the new 7-er include cross-traffic detection, high-beam assistant, lane departure warning, night vision system with pedestrian detection, active cruise control, traffic sign recognition, Surround View Parking Assistant and Head-Up display.

Also on offer could be optional laser LED lights borrowed from the i8. BimmerToday's intelligence also confirms that an "XL" variant, positioned above the standard and long wheelbase variants, is in the works offering the most luxurious interior and technologies ever seen on the 7 Series.

Styling of the new 7 Series is likely to be influenced by the BMW Vision Future Luxury Concept presented in Beijing in April.
