The design of the Verano is inspired by the Buick Riviera and Avenir concepts, which will also influence other future Buicks. The front end features the characteristic Buick waterfall grille flanked by Avenir-esque wing-shaped headlights with LED DRLs.

It features a fastback roof that flows towards the rear end, as well as bold character lines across the side profile. The rear end sports dual integrated inset exhausts and wing-shaped taillights. Top-spec models will sit on 17-inch, 10-spoke aluminum rims.

The Verano comes with a 1.5-liter SIDI turbocharged engine, which is capable of 166 hp and peak torque of 250 Nm at 1,700-4,400 rpm. It is paired to a new-generation seven-speed DCG transmission with smooth gear shifting. GM claims that the Buick Verano can return an average fuel consumption of 16.3 kmpl.

The new Buick Verano will join the Excelle and Excelle GT, and help the GM-owned brand to grow its market share in the upper-medium passenger car. Prices and variants are expected to be revealed closer to launch.
