2016 Chevrolet Camaro's side revealed in a die-cast - Report

This image of a die-cast shows the possible look at the 2016 Chevrolet Camaro's side. Expected to be revealed later this year, the new generation Camaro was teased last month at Chevrolet's press conference during the Detroit Auto Show.

The larger distance between the rear quarter window and the fender crease and a more tapered roofline suggest that this is not a die for casting the current generation Camaro's panel.

Likely to be based on the long wheelbase Alpha platform (which also forms the basis of the Cadillac CTS), the new Camaro is expected to weigh lesser than the outgoing model, though there are no concrete reports which put a definitive number on this weight loss. The American media predict that, thanks to its lighter weight, entry-level variants of the new Camaro could receive a turbocharged four-cylinder engine, rivaling the new Mustang EcoBoost.

Coming to the Camaro's Indian angle, an import/export website recently indicated the GM India had imported the car for R&D purposes. GM officials, in the past, have strongly hinted that the iconic car could launch in India as a brand shaper. It remains to be seen if the 2016 Camaro makes it to our market.
