2016 Chevrolet Equinox (facelift) revealed ahead of Chicago debut - IAB Report

Goes on sale later this year.

General Motors has unveiled the 2016 Chevrolet Equinox ahead of the SUV's debut at the Chicago Auto Show tonight. The vehicle, a facelift, brings cosmetic update while keeping the mechanicals unchanged.

At the front, the new Equinox gets projector headlamps with LED DRLs, new taillamps, new alloy wheel design (available in 17-inch and 18-inch versions), revised rear bumper, and dual exhausts on V6-powered models.

The 2016 Equinox retains the mechanical carriage, but gets new front and rear fascias.

The 5-seater will be available in four trim levels, namely L, LS, LT, and LTZ. A 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system is standard, new seat fabric is introduced for the lower variants, while safety features like Blind Zone alert and Rear Cross Traffic Alert have been added to LT and LTZ. Optional features like Forward Collision Alert and Lane Departure Warning are also on offer.

Mechanically it remains unchanged, gets optional all-wheel drive on all trims, while the engine line up includes a 2.4-litre Ecotec unit which makes 182 hp and 233 Nm of torque, and a larger 3.6-litre V6 engine that makes 301 hp and 369 Nm of torque.

Last year, Chevrolet sold 242,242 units of the Equinox, which holds more than 9 percent of the compact SUV market in the US, according to the company. In US, the facelifted version will go on sale in fall this year.
