Nearly identical to that of the Chevrolet Niva Concept.

Following the reveal of the exterior through patent images, the interior of the second generation 2016 Chevrolet Niva has leaked online. The next generation Chevrolet Niva will continue to be built at the GM-AvtoVAZ plant in Russia, and will break cover next year.

The interior depicted in the images is nearly identical to that of the Chevrolet Niva Concept unveiled at the 2014 Moscow Motor Show. It features a familiar Chevrolet design, featuring a 3-spoke steering wheel, motorcycle-inspired instrument cluster, and piano black gloss trim around the center console.

As seen in the patent images and spyshots, the production-spec Niva will look largely identical to the concept’s exterior, whilst featuring production-spec elements. The 2016 Niva will also be longer and bigger than the current model for extra cabin space, say reports.

Russian reports expect a 1.6-litre or a 1.8-litre petrol engine that is capable of producing around 120 PS (88 kW). The Niva concept was presented with a 1.8-litre naturally-aspirated petrol engine delivering 122 PS (90 KW), and mated to a five-speed manual transmission, a locking differential and an All-Wheel Drive system.
