2016 Fiat 500 spotted completely undisguised ahead of July 4 unveil - Spied

Ahead of its confirmed unveil on July 4, a fully revealing spyshot of the 2016 Fiat 500 has surfaced online from its commercial shoot, revealing the design changes in tow.

The facelifted Fiat 500 will get new headlamps inspired by the larger 500X, oval turn indicators underneath, and a larger air intake with chrome detailing.

In-line with the details from a leaked presentation, the facelifted Fiat 500 will get new headlamps inspired by the larger 500X, oval turn indicators underneath, and a larger air intake with fog lamps integrated. The only changes at the side are new allow wheel designs, while the rear, going by camouflage on test mules, gets a revised bumper, LED taillamps, and a larger chrome embellishment for the number plate.

The interior gets small updates such as new chrome inserts for the steering wheel, re-styled buttons for the power windows, and perhaps new leather and fabric upholstery options. Importantly, it will offer a 5-inch touchscreen with FCA’s UConnect infotainment system.

The facelifted Fiat 500 will continue to be sold with the the 1.2-liter 8-valve engine with 69 PS and 102 Nm, and the 0.9 TwinAir available in two power states: 85 PS and 105 PS. Transmission options include a 5-speed manual and Dualogic AMT gearboxes. The only reported mechanical upgrades are the front brakes of the car.

Although Fiat has discontinued the 500 in the Indian market, it will return to the country this year, in a slightly more powerful avatar - the Abarth 595 Competizione. It’s unclear if the facelifted model will follow the Abarth's launch in the future.
