Spied - India-bound 2016 Ford Endeavour spotted in Thailand
The next generation 2016 Ford Endeavour was spotted in Bangkok, Thailand, recently by a member of New Vigo Club. The surroundings indicate that the car was spotted at the airport, hinting that its in transit for further testing.
As seen in these images, the new Endeavour will take design inspiration from the Ford Everest concept that was shown at the Bangkok Motor Show earlier this year. In fact, a Ford insider said that the concept is nearly production ready, and that only small details like headlights and wheels would change when entering production.
The new Endeavour will launch in India sometime next year. Like the current model, the SUV will be assembled at Ford's Chennai plant by way of Thai-made CKD kits. The current 2.5-liter and 3.0-liter diesel engines would continue powering the Endeavour, though the gearboxes (both manual and automatic) would be upgraded from 5-speed to 6-speed units. Another mechanical improvement will come in the form of a coil spring suspension setup at the rear which currently uses outdated leaf springs.
Competitors: Hyundai Santa Fe, Toyota Fortuner, Chevrolet Captiva, Ssangyong Rexton, Isuzu MU-7
Expected Price: INR 20-25 lakhs, ex-Showroom
