Has a drag coefficient (Cd) of 0.27.

The 2016 Hyundai Elantra has been detailed in a new video by Consumer Reports. The new generation model has already been launched in its home market, South Korea.

The 2016 Elantra gets the company's new seven-speed DCT as an option.

The sixth generation Elantra is touted to be an evolution over its predecessor, with a revised design that improves the car's aerodynamics. The company claims that the 2016 Elantra is the most aerodynamic car in its segment as it has a drag coefficient (Cd) of 0.27. The new Elantra is also touted to be more engaging to drive.

The new Elantra, which is 20 mm longer and 25 mm wider, gets a 53 percent concentration of Advanced High Strength Steel (AHSS) in its body structure, as a result of which the 2016 model is said to be significantly stiffer compared to its predecessor.

The new Elantra is expected to be launched in India in late-2016 or early-2017.

In its home market, the sedan is offered with three engine choices comprising of two petrol and one diesel unit. The petrol options are the 1.6-litre GDi and the 2.0-litre MPi, which are offered with the choice of a six-speed manual or a six-speed automatic transmission. The diesel engine - 1.6-litre CRDi is the only motor that can optionally be ordered with Hyundai's new seven-speed Dual-Clutch Transmission.

In the US, the Elantra is available with the 1.4-litre T-GDI petrol engine with the seven-speed DCT and with the 2.0-litre Atkinson-cycle, naturally-aspirated petrol engine with either a six-speed manual or six-speed automatic gearbox.
