The Hyundai Elantra SR is likely to feature the upgrades from the Hyundai Elantra Sport from Korea (pictured).

As seen in the spyshots of its Korean cousin, the exterior of the Hyundai Elantra SR will feature large 18 inch diamond cut alloy wheels, revised intakes with LED DRLs, new headlight cluster with projector lamps, gloss black accents underlining the bumper and side sills, and twin chrome-finished exhaust pipes enclosed by a faux diffuser.

The Elantra SR could get new color accents in the interior, dual-tone leather upholstery, flat-bottomed steering and colored seat belts. It will carryover features from the regular model, such as Autonomous Emergency Braking (AEB), High Beam Assist (HBA), Blind Spot Detection (BSD) and Rear Cross Traffic Alert (RCTA).

Under the hood is a 1.6-liter T-GDI petrol engine from the Hyundai Veloster SR Turbo, which produces 201 hp and 265 Nm of torque. It will be paired to a 6-speed manual gearbox or 7-speed DCT. Another interesting change reported is that the Hyundai Elantra SR will replace the rear torsion beam setup of the regular Elantra for an independent suspension, which will improve handling. 0-100 km/h is reported to take 7 seconds.
