India-bound 2016 Hyundai Tucson to launch in September - Brazil
Expected to launch in India around the same time.
According to reports from the South American media, the 2016 Hyundai Tucson will launch in Brazil in September this year with a 1.6-liter turbocharged petrol engine with a dual-clutch transmission. For the South American market, the Tucson will be manufactured at Hyundai's Anapolis facility.
Around the same time, Hyundai Motor India Ltd. (HMIL) will also launch the 2016 Tucson in the domestic market as an upscale rival for the Mahindra XUV500. Priced and positioned above the Hyundai Creta, the Tucson will further help the Korean car maker bolster its 'Modern-Premium' image.
The 2016 Hyundai Tucson measures 4,475 mm in length, 1,850 mm in width, 1,645 mm in height and 2,670 mm in wheelbase and comes with a 513 liter boot. Power for the India-spec Tucson will likely come from a 2.0-liter CRDi engine which is available in power outputs of 136 PS and 184 PS, and with 6-speed manual and automatic transmissions.
This 2.0-liter diesel engine displaces 1,995 cc, and will allow HMIL to sell the Tucson in NCR and Kerala, should the ban on large diesel engines continue.
