India-bound 2016 Hyundai Tucson - Motorshow Focus
Could be showcased at Auto Expo 2016.
Hyundai showcased the 2016 Hyundai Tucson at the 2015 Frankfurt Motor Show. The car was unveiled prior to the 2015 Geneva Motor Show.
The SUV follows the automaker's Fluidic Sculpture 2.0 design language that gives it an athletic and bold appearance. The face comes with twin-projector LED headlights and LED DRLs with the imposing hexagonal grille in the middle. Big wheel arches with plastic cladding house 19-inch alloy wheels, with the sleek roof rails and door handles equipped with LED approach lamps completing the side profile. The rear looks stylish with elements such as a tailgate-mounted spoiler, wraparound LED taillights and bevel-cut twin chrome exhaust tips.
Hyundai has made the interior more premium with the use of leather on the instrument panel and addition of soft-touch materials to the interior touch points. The infotainment system is operated through the 8.0-inch touchscreen display that supports navigation and Siri "Eyes Free" integration.
The 2016 Hyundai Tucson offers a range of safety systems for occupant safety such as Automatic Emergency Braking with pedestrian detection, Blind Spot Detection, Lane Departure Warning System, Lane Change Assist, Rear Cross-traffic Alert, Backup Warning Sensors and a standard rear-view camera.
Under the hood, the SUV is available with a choice of naturally-aspirated 2.0-liter and turbocharged 1.6-liter four cylinder engines. The former makes 164 hp and 151 lb.-ft. (205 Nm) of torque, while the latter churns out 175 hp and 195 lb.-ft. (264 Nm) of peak torque. The 2.0-liter engine is mated to a 6-speed automatic gearbox but the 1.6-liter mill gets married to a new 7-speed EcoShift dual-clutch transmission.
According to reports, the new Tucson is expected to launch in India in the near future.
