Next generation Hyundai Verna spotted in Korea for the first time - Spied
To be launched in 2016, with Fluidic Sculpture 2.0 design philosophy.
Hyundai is currently working on the next generation Hyundai Verna, branded in other countries as the Accent and Solaris. Expected to launch next year, the fifth generation Verna will feature an all new exterior design, more premium interior and a new range of fuel efficient powertrains.
Spotted in South Korea is a pre-production prototype of the next generation Verna, finished in a unique gold shade, sporting new wing mirrors with integrated turn indicators, and a sunroof. By the looks of it, the front end will be more upright, along the lines of the new Genesis' design, as well as feature a new front fascia and a set of sharply detailed projector headlamps. The overall exterior design could draw influence from its flagship brother, the Genesis, in a mid-size, less expensive package.
The cabin is expected to be more premium and better finished than the current model, and unlike the flowing center console, Hyundai could feature an upright dashboard design that can house a proper touchscreen infotainment system, and features from the Fluidic Sculpture 2.0. Better space utilization can help free up extra rear legroom.
Reports suggest that Hyundai will retain the current range of petrol and diesel engines, albeit slightly improved, for the next generation Verna. Also in the cards is a new 1.0-liter TCi 3-cylinder turbocharged motor, that will launch on the European i20 this year, producing 106 hp. Transmission options will include manual gearboxes as well as the new 7-speed dual clutch automatic, replacing the 4-speed and 6-speed AT.
