2016 Jaguar XF (India-bound) spotted testing before NYIAS debut - Spied
Car has grown in length, to feature newly developed iQ platform, and Ingenium engines.
Jaguar’s next-generation mid-size luxury sedan XF, which awaits a global unveiling at the New York Auto Show on April 1 (unconfirmed), was spotted testing at Canary Islands, off the Moroccan coast in the mid-Atlantic.
Though the test mule was camouflaged, the spy pictures by Mr. Jan Lemkes makes it obvious that the car has grown lengthwise relative to the existing model, which will benefit cabin space and rear legroom.
The new XF seems to borrow design elements from its younger sibling, the XE. In fact, the XF is built on the lightweight iQ modular aluminium architecture, which spawns the XE and the upcoming F-Pace SUV. The interiors and dashboard design are also expected to be an evolution from that of the XE.
Another delight of the new XF will be the ‘Ingenium’ range of engines, which JLR debuted on the XE last year. These next generation four-cylinder engines are said to be fuel efficient and low in emissions. A V6 supercharged petrol and a bigger 5.0-liter supercharged V8 will also be offered in this second-generation XF.
There have been reports earlier that the XF will also find a long-wheelbase variant for the Chinese market, so as to compete with 5 Series L, the E Class L and the A6 L. It will be unveiled at one of the major Chinese auto shows this year.
Jaguar is yet to confirm the car's debut, its engines or specifications.
A possible Indian launch of the new XF may take place in 2016. Meanwhile, the current XF will get new R-Sport and Portfolio variants by the second half this year in India, said another report.
