Gets an updated 3.0-liter V6 diesel engine.

The 2016 Jaguar XJ, unveiled online in June, will be publicly displayed at the 2015 Frankfurt Motor Show that starts on September 15, 2015. While the premium limo will arrive in international markets by end of this year or early next year, the car has already made its way to India for homologation purposes, according to data available on Zauba.

The XJ facelift sees subtle exterior changes to differentiate itself from the current model. The update gets new LED head- and tail-lamps, redesigned bumpers and new alloy wheels. Interiors have also received some modifications such as new seat upholstery, 8-inch infotainment unit with Jaguar’s InControl Touch Pro system, a 12.3-inch instrument cluster with full-screen navigation and some design tweaks to enhance the premium factor.

The model that has been imported is the 2.0-liter inline, four-cylinder petrol model that produces 237 bhp and 340 Nm of torque. A revised 3.0-liter V6 diesel engine will also be available with the flagship update. This engine will develop 296 bhp and 700 Nm, which is an increase of more than 100 Nm from the previous unit. Both engines will be coupled to the existing 8-speed ZF automatic transmission.

The arrival of the homologation unit hints that its launch is a few months away, perhaps in the festival season. Like previously, the XJ will be offered in the country only as a long wheelbase version.
