2016 Mahindra Genio (facelift) will feature better styling - Report
Facelift to be launched in the coming weeks.
Speaking to Car Advice, Mahindra Australia's marketing manager James Halliwell has teased that the upcoming facelift for the Mahindra Genio, the pickup based on the Mahindra Xylo, will be "pleasing to the eye". He also divulged that the facelift will be introduced in the 8 weeks, followed by an Australian launch in Q4 2015.
ArrayMr Halliwell confirmed that there are number of exterior styling changes intended to give the Genio a fresh look. The exterior changes could be similar to the upcoming Mahindra Quanto facelift, which was spotted with a new grille, redesigned air intakes, LED DRLs and a raised facade. Even the interior will go through a major revision, aiming to make it feel "car-like". Some of the features like the dual front airbags, ABS, Cruise Control and DDAS info display will continue to serve on the facelift.
At the moment, it's unclear if there will be updates to the Mahindra Genio's powertrain. The current model is powered by a mHawk 2,179 cc four-cylinder engine that develops 120 bhp @ 4,000 rpm and 280 Nm @ 1800 to 2800 rpm. It is paired to a 5-speed manual transmission. In India, the pickup comes with a 2.5-litre four-cylinder diesel engine that delivers 75 bhp and 220 Nm of peak torque at 1,400 to 2,200 rpm.

The Australian specification gets 4x2 and 4x4 drive system, with a payload of 1,000 - 1,260 kg depending on the driveline and body type. Even though Mahindra is equipping models such as the XUV500 and U301 (codename) SUVs with an automatic transmission, it's still unknown if the Australian-spec Genio will be offered with one.
