2016 Mahindra Quanto (facelift) snapped testing in Nashik - Spied

Will feature a 5-speed AMT option.

The facelifted Mahindra Quanto has been spotted testing in Nashik, courtesy of Motoroids reader Abhijit Ranpise. It is expected to launch this fiscal, featuring a new exterior and interior design, revised engine and an AMT option.

The rear-end of the facelifted Quanto appears to be largely similar to the outgoing model.

Reports suggest that Mahindra will drop the Quanto name, so as to market the vehicle as a brand new product. So far, the internet has christened it as the Mahindra Canto, which has not been confirmed by the company.

The exterior design will further distance itself from the Mahindra Xylo with a re-designed front-end, new headlamps, LED pilot lamps, hood intake, vertically slat grille, and a new bumper design with round foglamps. The rear-end appears to be largely similar to the outgoing model.

Power is likely to be sourced from the mHawk 80 diesel engine that powers the Mahindra TUV300. In the latter, the 1.5-liter 3 cylinder turbodiesel produces 84 hp and 230 Nm, and is paired to a 5-speed manual as standard. A 5-speed AMT is a confirmed option for the Mahindra Canto, which was previewed at the Auto Expo 2014 as the Mahindra Quanto autoSHIFT.
