Rendering - 2016 Mercedes E Class
The Mercedes E Class, which happens to be a volume seller for the company in international and Indian markets, will head for a replacement by 2016. This early rendering takes a look as to how the 2016 E Class would look like.
The front end of the E Class is given the headlights seen on the newer Mercedes models. The S Class-like headlights are seen along with an Avant Garde grille and an aggressively-styled front bumper. Typical of an E Class, there are minimal design lines and contours on the body panels, and the overall profile is reminiscent of the current generation.
Towards the rear, the new E Class looks quite sporty in this rendering thanks to the small windscreen, the S Class Coupe-inspired taillights and the dual exhausts.
Inside, we expect the 2016 E Class to use equipment such as the fingertip-controlled media system and the updated Mercedes COMAND infotainment system (seen on the new C Class).
Under the hood, engines are expected to range from four-cylinder units on the regular variants to an eight-cylinder motor on the AMG model. Hybrid variants of the new E Class are reported to be jointly developed with Tesla Motors. At least three hybrid variants of the E Class will be offered on the new generation model.
