2016 Mercedes S Class Cabriolet teased, debut at IAA 2015 - IAB Report
First open variant of the S-Class after 44 years.
The 2016 Mercedes S Class Cabriolet has been confirmed to make its debut at the 2015 IAA in Frankfurt, alongside the Mercedes C Class Coupe. It is touted as the most comfortable cabriolet in the world, and will be brimming with many creature comforts for peaceful open-top motoring.
The design is identical to the Mercedes S Class Coupe, save for the roof chopped off. According to spyshots, it will adopt a fabric roof top, rather than a foldable hard top. It's unclear as to how much weight does the motors, other components and chassis strengthening add.
Some of the confirmed features for the 2-door 2+2 Mercedes S Class Cabriolet include automatic wind protection system AIRCAP, AIRSCARF neck-level heating, heated armrests, seat heaters for the rear seats and an intelligent fully automatic climate control.

Other features will be borrowed from the S Class Coupe, like the dual 12.1 inch displays for the instrument cluster and COMAND infotainment system, Nappa leather upholstery, Magic Body Control, and a Burmester audio system.
It could also borrow the 4.7-liter V8 engine from the S Class Coupe, although we are not sure if Mercedes will introduce AMG versions of the S Class Cabriolet.
